Can I open an Australian bank account?

Citizens of Ukraine who are in Australia or are currently overseas and have a visa to Australia, due to arrive within 3 months can open an Australian Bank Account with Dnister, subject to eligibility. You can also arrange for your funds to be transferred to your new before you arrive. Read about it HERE>

What documents do I need to open a bank account?

Citizens of Ukraine are able to open a bank account utilising a variety of documents. In the event that you do not have a passport due to circumstances, there are other methods of identification that can used to satisfy . How do I transfer & access my funds?

You will be able to transfer your money to your account from overseas and easily access your funds through our secure internet banking portal or by using our . Please see the information below in relation to International Money Transfers. Once you arrive in Australia we will be able to further provide you with a Visa Debit Card to make purchases and offer a full range of financial products and services.

Digital Banking

Access your funds all day everyday by using our secure internet banking portal or by downloading the Dnister App from the App Store for Iphone or Android via Google Play on your phone to easily access your funds. Dnister offers its members free access to these portals to manage your accounts, make payments or transfer between your accounts and other financial institutions.

Visa or Cuecard

You can apply for access to a transactional card in Australia – Dnister Visa Debit Card with payWave contactless technology or a Dnister Cuecard. Our cards have additional Orion fraud protection and additional online Verified by Visa security to make online purchases. The card also provides you with valuable additional .

Hryvia Cash

It is highly advisable to open an Australian Bank Account before entering Australia, as this will enable you to transfer your Ukrainian funds to your Australian Bank Account in Australian dollars. If you have arrived in Australia with Ukrainian Hyrvnia, there are cash exchange facilities in major capital cities and some of the major banks may provide these exchange facilities, although these providers may charge a substantial fee for the conversions to AUD.

International Money Transfer

If you have already opened your Australian Bank Account and you are still in Ukraine or in transit, you can send funds to your new Dnister account via SWIFT. It is recommended that you contact our team by emailing admin@dnister.com.au, who will nurture you through the process and ensure that all accounts/amounts and information is secure and correct. Our team is here to ensure that your valuable funds arrive into your new Australian Bank Account.

Embassy of Ukraine in Australia

We are very fortunate to have our Embassy of Ukraine in Australia which was established on April 14, 2003 through the conversion of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Sydney. The Ukrainian Embassy is located in Canberra and we have the recent newly appointed Ukrainian Ambassador Mr Vasyl Myroshnychenko who arrived from Ukraine March 2022. You will be able to contact the Embassy for personal Consular Matters.
