At our Annual General Meeting held on 8th November 2015, the Board advised that Dnister Ukrainian Credit Co-operative Ltd (Dnister) and Latvian Australian Credit Co-operative Society Ltd (Latvian) had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to investigate the potential merger of Latvian with Dnister. Since that time, a significant amount of work has been completed including negotiation of the proposed merger\u2019s terms, financial and legal due diligence and consultation with our regulatory authority.<\/p>\n

Our first information session was held in Melbourne on 22nd May 2016 and it was well attended by over 65 Members. The format was an initial presentation by our Chairman, Wal Mykytenko, followed by an interactive discussion forum with members present, the Board and CEO. Members were advised that there would be no changes to Dnister\u2019s Constitution, name, logo or Board composition. The merged entity would have increased assets, particularly loans and liquidity, and increased equity together with additional physical locations in Strathfield NSW and Mitcham Vic. It\u2019s expected that the merger will provide significant advantages over time through economies of scale, a broader product range, an expanded distribution network and additional value for Members.<\/p>\n

\u2018We were very pleased with the attendance and the positive feedback received from the discussion forum\u2019 said Mr Mykytenko. \u2018It was a great opportunity for Dnister to engage with our Members regarding this important milestone for our Co-operative. The proposed merger represents a further opportunity to continue our strong commitment to supporting our Members and their communities. As a Member-owned financial institution, we remain committed to providing value for Members \u2013 great products, competitive rates and fees, and excellent service \u2013 rather than profit for shareholders.\u2019<\/p>\n
