Dnister had a unique opportunity to present at this year’s National Customer Owned Banking Association (COBA) conference ‘Leading with Purpose’, where around 1,000 fellow leaders in the financial sector came together for the three-day event in Queensland.

Our Personal Banker, Solomiia Vozniak presented our Dnister and Ukrainian story, for the session Service in Action: Elevating customer service to new heights’.  Solomiia shared her experiences being also a displaced person from Ukraine due to the war explaining the wonderful support, programs and initiatives Dnister and our team members has provided for newly arrived Ukrainians. “Solomiia being able to draw on her personal experiences as a displaced person and staff member was both moving and inspiring for the industry” explained Sonja van de Camp (Marketing & ICT Executive).

The ‘Welcome Gift Card’ is one the initiatives Dnister contributed to in collaboration with Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organization’s (AFUO) and Helping Ukrainians Australia (HUA). 1,000 pre-loaded $300 gift cards have been allocated to displaced Ukrainians and distributed through the Humanitarian Settlement Program in each state. Our financial industry partner Indue supported this initiative with the card production services with an additional financial contribution of $4,000.00 to the project.

As a gratitude of appreciation from the community our Chair, Bohdan Wojewidka presented Derek Weatherley, CEO of Indue with a traditional Ukrainian ‘Motanka Doll’.

For Ukrainians, the Motaka Doll is a symbol that inspires feelings of strength, courage, and hope. In Ukraine, people gift their nearest and dearest a Motanka doll, when they depart on a journey, set off for a new home, or go to war. The doll presented was made by children rescued from a children’s home in Bucha, Ukraine.
